SilentHelp
Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 5, 2026 · SilentHelp is a student project. This policy is written plainly on purpose.

The short version: your words are analyzed to keep you safe, then discarded. We store signals, not sentences. Nothing is ever sent to another person without you pressing send. You can export or delete everything, anytime.

What SilentHelp looks at

Only text you actively write — messages in the Coping Chat, and (if you install the optional Mac agent) the text on your screen or in your focused text field. Plus rhythm signals that contain no words at all: tab switches, typing correction rate, late-night minutes, active time. SilentHelp never reads your files, photos, passwords, or browsing history.

What gets stored

What leaves the device

One thing, only when Layer 2 (semantic understanding) is on: the text being checked is sent to an AI model (via Groq) to judge meaning and context, then discarded. It is not used to train models and is not stored by us. Turn Layer 2 off in Settings and nothing leaves at all.

Who ever gets told

No one — unless a sustained pattern crosses every layer's threshold, and even then SilentHelp only drafts a note to the trusted contact you chose. You read it, you can edit it, and nothing is sent unless you press send. There is no silent reporting to parents, schools, or anyone else.

Your data, your rules

What SilentHelp is not

SilentHelp is not a medical product, does not diagnose any condition, and is not a substitute for professional help. If you are in crisis, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or text HOME to 741741 (Crisis Text Line) — real people, any time.
